Malolo Island Resort, Main Building, Fiji
Have you ever cried on arrival?
When I stepped onto the jetty of Malolo Island, looked up and beheld the spectacular white, plantation style facade of the main building set against the tropical forest, I was overcome with emotion at the breathtaking beauty of the place. I couldn’t stop crying. The soulful voices of the people welcoming us, addressing us as family, added to the theft of my heart which took place that day.
That was four years ago and Fiji has never left my heart since.
This was not my first visit to the islands. I visited Mana Island a few years prior and had such a desire to return to Fiji. It was years before I was able to visit again, but my soul longed for Fiji, even after our first visit. Again, it was the people; their hospitality, their generosity, their kindness! The music and their singing stayed with me for years. I returned again, two years ago.
A little dream seed was planted in my heart and every now and then I watered it. This little seed has been growing quietly. I believe I am now ready to share what has unfurled from it with you. I hope you enjoy the adventure I’m about to take you on through The Journal and the Traveller’s Telegram. I’m having the time of my life researching, sketching and painting these locations. Already I’ve made so many new connections and I’m excited to be bringing you news, stories and art from the dreamiest places in the world. So let’s jump in.
Explore Dream Travel Destinations!
Through the Journal, I’ll be exploring dream travel destinations, their fauna, flora, history, culture and customs. I’ll bring you weekly posts about these destinations along with the art that I’m creating to bring these destinations to life. In essence it’s a digital explorer journal. Every quarter we will be traveling somewhere new. We’ll spend the remainder of this year, from October onwards, and all of next year in the South Pacific Islands, starting with Fiji.
If there’s a resort that holds a special place in your heart, and you would like me to paint and feature it, I’d love for you to share a photograph with me. If selected, you’ll receive a complementary print of the finished artwork.
The Traveller’s Telegram - Print Mail Club
If you’d like to collect art and souvenirs from our adventures, The Traveller’s Telegram is a snail mail club, where I send out a selection of prints, postcards, stickers/tranfers, magnets and coasters every month. Signups open on the 15th of August, with the first mail drop going out at the beginning of October. A print of the above painting of the Malolo Island Resort is included in this first mail drop.

When I posted the above painting and tagged the Malolo Island Resort, they received quite an outpouring of love from people who felt the same way I did. Since then, I’ve had many people reach out to me and it’s created so many lovely connections. I’d love for you to be part of this community.

Art Prints
I’ve cleared out most of my botanical artwork to make space for new work. Besides the art featured in the mail club, I’ve released six prints from the Fiji Collection so far, with more being added regularly.
